This year my 2nd grader begged me to let her do more subjects from BJU Press through their distance learning program. She really enjoyed using BJU distance learning videos for science, history and math last year. She was eager to add more BJU video lessons to her course work this year. That means that most of my 2nd grade homeschool curriculum choices are BJU Press distance learning videos for 2nd grade.
I decided to purchase the BJU Press 2nd grade kit. My daughter is doing most of the curriculum using the online version. We chose to do Bible with the DVD option so she can watch the videos on our television screen with her 4th grade brother and 4 year old brother.
Not everything is BJU Press curriculum though. We are using Spell to Write and Read for spelling and Memoria Press Copybook 2 for penmanship practice.
Watch the video below to see all of our 2nd grade homeschool curriculum choices for the 2018-2019 school year.

Hello Janelle, Thank you for your website!
How did the BJU DLO Reading 2 program go? I’m planning on teaching it at home “Memoria Press-style”, and I’m curious about the DLO.
Warm thanks,
Sunny

My daughter really enjoyed the Distance Learning reading program. They have updated the 2nd grade videos to make it even better. The DL reading is a great option if you need your child to work more independently. The new reading books work really well teacher-led as well. Hope that helps!

Hi Janelle! We really want to do the DL (all subjects$ for my daughter going into 2nd grade. My concern is that she is not reading independently. She is still learning to read using the phonics approach. Do you think that the 2nd grade curriculum will not work for her? It seems like they are expected to be reading on their own to be able to do all the subjects. What would you do?
Thank you!
Monica

My 2nd grader was not reading independently either and he did great with the BJU video courses.
