Favorite Things for Spiritual Growth
1. Podcast
I absolutely loved this podcast from Revive Our Hearts entitled, “How to Approach Scripture“. It aired on February 21, but I didn’t get around to listening to it until March, so I’m making it one of my March favorites. In this podcast, Jen Wilkin teaches us how to study Scripture. We all need to know and practice what Jen teaches in this episode!
2. Podcast
Another podcast that I really enjoyed this month was from Nancy Guthrie on her show, Help Me Teach the Bible. On March 6, she had a podcast entitled, “Developing the Skill of Seeing Christ in the Old Testament“. I’m currently reading through Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy and I could use some help in finding Christ in these difficult books of the Bible. This was an excellent podcast filled with so many wonderful examples of how the Old Testament declares Christ.
3. Book
A favorite book that I finished reading in March was Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free, by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. I’ve had this book sitting on my shelf for years and finally took the time to read it all the way through. I have to admit that the reason I didn’t pick it up sooner was because I was certain all the lies she talks about were ones I knew about and did not believe. I was wrong! Many of the lies she shares in her book, I knew were lies, but I didn’t realize the subtle ways I was believing them and living those lies out in my life. I highly recommend this book.

4. Skin Care
I am very sensitive to scent and have had a hard time finding skin care products that don’t irritate me and actually work. I’m usually stuck with lotions and creams that leave my skin feeling super dry or overly greasy.
The last few months I have been using Burts Bees Night Cream for sensitive skin and have been loving it! It gives me just the right amount of moisture for my skin without me waking up in the morning feeling oily.
With the dry winter air, I have been applying it twice. I usually wash my face, apply the cream, brush my teeth and then apply a small amount in a few areas on my face that tend to be drier than the rest. I’m super excited to have found a moisturizer that doesn’t have a scent and actually works for my skin. Love Burts Bees Night Cream for sensitive skin!
5. Product
Another favorite product for March is the Invisible Belt. How did I not know about this? Two of my friends, my mom and my adult daughter all shared with me recently how much they love the Invisible Belt. I kept wondering how a belt could be so life-changing but after four different people told me about it, I had to try it out for myself.
I ordered this twin pack and shared the second one with my 14 year old. We both love it! It holds my pants up without the big bulge that belt buckles leave. It’s also a lot more comfortable to wear than normal belts. I still keep my other belts on hand if I am going to tuck in my shirts, but the Invisible Belt works great when I am wearing sweaters, blouses or t-shirts that I am leaving untucked. Have you tried the Invisible Belt?
Bonus Favorite
I can’t stop signing “Across the Lands”, by Keith and Kristen Getty. You can listen to it on YouTube or purchase it to download. The Getty’s are one of my favorite artists. I love their modern day hymns that are filled with rich truth from Scripture.
