Here’s a look at our February homeschool highlights.

I had some fun activities planned for our homeschool in February but none of those actually happened as I spent most of the month managing my health issues. It seems that our January family vacation, while being so much fun, took a toll on my body and I spent most of February trying to recover.
The good news is that my children’s home education didn’t have to suffer while I recovered. Thanks to our homeschool curriculum choices this year, my kids were able to work independently on most subject. The few subjects that I did teach had easy, open-and-go lesson plans that I could implement in between resting. (Check out our 2020-2021 homeschool curriculum choices for preschool, 1st grade, 4th and 6th grade, 8th grade and 10th grade.)
BJU Press Distance Learning and Structure and Style for Students from IEW allowed my kids to work pretty independently. Fix It Grammar, Logic of English: Foundations, and All About Reading: Pre-Reading Level provided me with open-and-go lesson plans that were easy to follow and required absolutely no teacher preparation.
While I wasn’t up to the field trips and activities that I had originally planned, the kids did enjoy their KiwiCo Crates this month. This monthly subscription has been a huge hit in our home and provides the kids with some fun, educational activities that I don’t have to plan nor do I have to prepare for. It has been a win for all of us!
It is months like these that I can easily become discouraged by all the fun activities we missed out on but I am reminded through Scripture that there is a season for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) and to be thankful in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18). This month I have tried to focus on what we have accomplished and the blessings that come from slowing down and focusing on family and home.
