Large Family Homeschool Curriculum Choices

This year I will be homeschooling six children from kindergarten to high school! I absolutely love being home with my kids and consider it a blessing to be able to homeschool them. But with so many children at home to educate, I have to choose my curriculum wisely.

This year, our large family homeschool curriculum choices include a lot of video-based learning and some group learning. This allows me more time to work one-on-one in areas that certain kids need more help in.

High School Curriculum Choices

7th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices

Here’s what my 7th grader will be using this coming school year.

Bible

• Reading through the Bible on his own.
• Joining us in our family Bible time.

English

• Writing:
• Structure and Style for Students (IEW)
• Grammar:
• Fix It! Grammar (IEW)
• Literature:
• Poetry for the Grammar Stage (Memoria Press)
• Three literature guides of his choice from Memoria Press.

I am currently looking into opportunities for my 7th grader to pursue some of his interests including welding and mechanics. The pre-teen and teen years are a great time to let kids explore areas of interest to see what they might want to do after high school graduation.

5th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices

• Learning the books of the Bible and their context Books of the Bible flashcards from Answers in Genesis.

• Logic of English: Foundations (for phonics, reading, spelling, handwriting & grammar)
• Part III of the Primary Arts of Language: Writing from IEW
• BJU Press Reading 2 readers for extra reading practice. (I’m using an older edition that I used with previous children.)

History
