Eighth Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices
I’m sharing our eighth grade homeschool curriculum choices. This year we are using some new curriculum while also reusing some old ones.
We will be gathering together in the morning and lunchtime to cover Bible, logic, manners, character traits, doctrine, and to memorize Scripture. You can read about what we are using in this blog post.
History Curriculum
My eighth grader will be joining with his younger sister for history lessons. They will be working through Uncle Sam and You from Notgrass History. They will also be using the literature component that goes along with the history curriculum.
English Curriculum
Along with the literature readings from Notgrass History, my eighth grader will also be covering writing, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. We will be using a lot of what I already had in my curriculum tubs along with a new resource for vocabulary.
My son is more than half way through his writing and grammar curriculum from the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) so we will spread those lessons out over the year and supplement with the writing assignments from Notgrass History and the grammar curriculum I already had from previous years of homeschooling.
Here is a look at the English curriculum we will be using this year:
- Uncle Sam and You literature package (literature)
- Poetry for the Grammar Stage (literature/poetry)
- Structure and Style for Students (writing)
- Fix It! Grammar (grammar)
- Winston Grammar (grammar)
- All About Spelling (spelling)
- Daily Reading Practice 8 (vocabulary & reading comprehension)
Math & Science Curriculum
I gave my eighth grader a few curriculum options for math and science. Here is what he chose to use this year:
