This will be my 20th year homeschooling and the third time I’ve had a junior in high school. I love seeing the variations in homeschool curriculum that my three oldest have used as well as the variety of electives they have taken that fit each of them so well. That’s one of the wonderful things about homeschooling a high schooler. You can cater their courses to their unique gifts and interests.

11th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices
Here is a look at our 11th grade homeschool curriculum choices. Under each subject I have listed the course title that will go on her transcript, the credits that she’ll receive for the course, and the curriculum she is using.
English
This year I wanted to use the video lessons from BJU Press for English. The problem, for us, was that the 11th grade English course covered American Literature which my daughter took last year from Notgrass History. I originally planned on bumping her up to BJU English 12 but the videos are so outdated that we decided to go with BJU English 10. It covers grammar, writing, and the elements of literature so I think it will be a great course for her even though it doesn’t match up to her grade level.

History/Social Science
Last year we tried out Notgrass History for high school and loved it so we are using it again! This year my 11th grader will be covering world history.

- Curriculum:
- Exploring World History (Notgrass History)

Math
My daughter will be taking Algebra 2 this year. I gave her the choice of using BJU Press Algebra 2 online or Math-U-See Algebra 2. She decided to go with Math-U-See this year. Since she doesn’t plan on going into a math or science field after high school, I will have her take a personal finance or consumer math course next year. This new consumer math course from BJU Press looks amazing.

We are privileged to attend church with Dennis Englin, the author of the physics course from Master Books. He agreed to teach a physics co-op class at our church that my daughter will be participating in.

Bible
This year I am creating a unique high school Bible elective for my daughter. I want her to get a good foundation in the doctrines of the Christian faith and how to live a life for the Lord. I am using the Fundamentals of the Faith curriculum to cover the doctrines of the faith. Then, I have added in four books for her to read that will help her learn how to study the Bible (Women of the Word), how to live for the glory of God (Changed Into His Image), how to encourage fellow believers (When Words Matter Most), and finally, inspire her to walk faithfully with the Lord (Christian biography). I pray that this Bible course will build her up into a mature believer that is equipped to serve the Lord and encourage the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4)

I’ll have an 11th grader next school year and am taking the same path with math. We love the look of BJU’s consumer math, too! He currently is using Notgrass World History for high school this year, so we’ll see how that goes. Your Bible elective sounds GREAT! I may have to check some of those titles out.
