With my recent stroke and other health concerns, I needed to purchase curriculum for the upcoming school year that my 2nd grader could do independently. It wasn’t hard for me to decide what to purchase. We have used and loved BJU Press video lessons for many years. It allows my kids to get an excellent, Biblical worldview, Christ-centered education while developing their critical thinking skills and allowing them to work independently.

2nd Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices

I decided to purchase the 2nd grade online grade kit from BJU Press. I was excited to see that their heritage studies and science courses for second grade are brand new! Plus, second grade has some of our favorite BJU Press online teachers! I’ll be swapping out the spelling and handwriting for a different curriculum which you can see below.

Here is a break down of our 2nd grade homeschool curriculum choices for 2nd grade.

Math: BJU Press Math 2 Online

History: BJU Press Heritage Studies 2 Online (one semester course)

Science: BJU Press Science 2 Online (one semester course)

Reading: BJU Press Reading 2 and All About Reading (We will rotate between AAR and BJU Reading which means we will not use all of BJU Press Reading 2.)

Spelling: All About Spelling

English (writing & grammar): BJU Press English 2 Online

Handwriting: Rhythm of Handwriting from Logic of English

Bible: We will continue having our family Bible reading during lunchtime. I’m also adding in this Comparative Worldview curriculum from Foundation Worldview for my 4th and 2nd graders.
