In this video I’m sharing my homeschool curriculum choices for my upcoming tenth grader. He’ll be taking four core subjects (math, science, history, and English) plus two electives each semester.

Tenth Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices
One of the things I love about homeschooling a high schooler is finding electives that fit their talents and interests. Here’s a look at what my tenth grader will be taking this year. I’ve included the subject, course title that will go on his transcript, how many credits the course is worth and the curriculum we are using.
English

We are still discussing different options for his second semester elective. We are currently considering some of these unique high school electives.

Hi! I notice that you decided not to go with BJU Press English 10. I’d love to know you and your son’s pros & cons. We’ve used other BJU Press Online Reading for elementary ages but never the full English package. Thank you for all that you do to support our community!

I have used BJU Press English in the high school years with several of my kids. It is heavy on grammar and assumes the student is a fairly good writer since BJU does a good job teaching writing skills starting in the elementary grades. It’s a great curriculum option. This particular child needed to focus on improving writing skills so we went with IEW for his writing and added in the IEW grammar. This child also enjoys IEW curriculum more. Hope that helps.
