The Holy Scriptures
I believe that the Bible alone, comprised of the 66 books found in the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. The Bible is infallible (without error), sufficient for all saving knowledge, faith, and obedience, and final in its authority.
2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Romans 15:4, Luke 24:27,44, 1 John 5:9
The Triune God
I believe in one God, eternally existing in three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Galatians 4:6, John 15:26
Creation of Humanity
I believe that God created men and women in His image. Adam and Eve were the first human beings, created in the image of God, on the sixth day of creation. Both men and women are equal in value and worth yet given distinct roles within the family and church.
Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:7, Ephesians 5:22-33, 1 Corinthians 11:3
The Fall
I believe Adam, who was created sinless, forfeited his original state of perfection when he chose to disobey God and eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. As a result, all human beings are born in sin, alienated from God and condemned to death.
Genesis 3:1-7, Romans 3:10-12, Romans 5:12-21, Psalm 51:5, 1 Corinthians 15: 21-22
Redemption
I believe that from all eternity God determined to save those whom He had chosen from every tribe and language and people and nation through the Messiah promised in Scripture. Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah, being fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was buried, and raised on the third day. His death on the cross canceled the debt of sin and reconciled to God those whom He predestined to be His children. I believe that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.
1 Corinthians 15: 1-4, John 1:14, Matthew 1:18, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Timothy 2:5, Acts 4:12, Romans 3:21-27, Hebrews 4:14-15, Revelation 7:9
Justification
I believe that Jesus Christ, by his obedience and death, fully paid the debt of all those who are justified. By his sacrifice on the cross, he fully satisfied God’s justice on their behalf. Christ’s perfect obedience is credited to them as righteousness. Justification is not based on anything they did in the past, present or future but solely on the work of Jesus Christ received through faith alone. The gift of justification motivates believers towards obedience.
Romans 4:1-12, Romans 3:21-31, Romans 5:17-19, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 2:11-14, Titus 3:3-8, Philippians 3:8-9
Sanctification
I believe that sanctification is God’s will for all believers. It is the process of becoming more holy as the believer grows in their obedience to Christ by the grace of God. While a believer is positionally holy (through justification at conversion) they experience progressive sanctification as they grow in holiness here on earth.
1 Thessalonians 4:3, 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Romans 6:1-14, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Colossians 3:1-17, 2 Corinthians 7:1
I hold to a believers baptism and a literal, six day creation. I believe marriage is between one man and one woman as instituted by God from the beginning of creation.
